Desert Chamber Orchestra Description
This is our once-a-year opportunity to offer children and families a chance to see and experience the instruments of the orchestra up close and to have a hands-on chance to explore the wonders of making music!
For the first hour, the instruments will be stationed around the hall and outside - strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion - giving everyone a chance to make the rounds of the entire orchestra. There will also be a drawing for a package of beginning lessons for a child who would like to get started with a musical instrument. Following the "instrument petting zoo" the orchestra musicians will all come together inside for a special performance of Sergei Prokofiev's "Peter and the Wolf", where the instruments take on the roles of the characters in this classical Russian story, with our special guest celebrity narrator.
